5 Tips for Creating a Relaxing Backyard

5 tips for creating a relaxing backyard coming at you right now. We all need that little bit of relaxing in our lives - we have stressful busy lives and a backyard place to relax in is what we're going to talk about.

#1 feature – is water. We love the sound of moving water. A water feature in your backyard to give you the relaxation you are looking for. You can do a water feature that is more of a stream style, it could have a pond at the end of it or even a pondless type feature that is a lot easier for you to clean. You can have a flower pot style water feature that is also very easy to maintain. Another type of water feature is a spout style water feature that pours out of a spout but it's being recirculated. You can put Water features outside of the window and then go outside to enjoy them in your front and backyards.

#2 A garden spot in your backyard is known to be therapeutic and you can grow vegetables, grow flowers, even spices. Gardens give you a connection to nature and earth that is soothing and relaxing. Gardens come in many different shapes and sizes. You could do a greenhouse or raised garden beds in all kinds of styles. Another secondary benefit to having a garden - homegrown organics!

#3 Another of my favorite outdoor features is relaxing in a hot tub or sauna. I've had a hot tub in my yard for over 20 years and I've just recently purchased a sauna within the last few years. The sauna is my wintertime destination; I love this sanctuary. Then just yesterday I headed outside to relax in my spa and not think about anything and look at the stars. Heavenly!

#4 One of my other favorite tips for a relaxing backyard is to have a private oasis to go out into nature - separate from everything else. A private retreat. It could be a little water feature that we've already talked about but then you put a patio near it, and you'll have that little destination to go out to enjoy. That nature spot in your backyard for thinking, relaxing, refueling.

#5 Hammock Time. Hammocks can be fun AND relaxing - but really think about the times you’ve taken a quick nap in a hammock - it's a crowd favorite for one. Or with a friend – hammock together and chit-chat.
