In a recent interview, Kahn said that he was inspired to make HIDE & SEEK after playing a game of hide-and-seek with the OfflineTV members in an abandoned house. Kahn said that the experience was "terrifying" and that he wanted to make a film that would capture that same sense of terror.

Kahn also said that he was drawn to the idea of making a horror film about a group of friends playing a game of hide-and-seek. Kahn said that the game is "innocent enough on its own, but when you take it out of context and put it in a horror film setting, it becomes really scary."
