Conversation with Margaret Correll, artist, on September 18, 2021. For more on Margaret's work, visit http://www.margaretcorrell.com as well as @margaret.correll.9 on Instagram. Thank you so much, Margaret!
Margaret writes, "There was always the disconnect." I met Margaret Correll at Marsha Lane Foster's Art Gallery opening this summer and was first drawn to her paintings of women huddled together "sensually, not sexually." Margaret graciously agreed to come on the show to share her story. We speak about the self-figure, Margaret's time at the Whitney plus influences spanning coast to coast, and even Elizabeth Taylor! Margaret lives her ethos of "art as embodying a sort of connective filament." For more on Painting as Respite, Abstract Poetry, & Purposefully Temporary Installation Work, I encourage you to listen in. Thank you so much for this conversation and your work, Margaret. And thank you always, Angela Salvatore.
Opinions expressed and conversations are my own and not those of my employer or the university I attend.
