I agree the warm weather is welcome but yes, it can get TOO HOT! America’s South is continuing to suffer through an extreme heat wave that has already set many records! More than thirty million people have been under heat alerts, with many cities in Texas and Louisiana experiencing triple-digits on the heat index. And some of those records were set at night meaning there's been no relief at all. Stay safe out there people!
Hurricane season started on June 1 and the 2nd named storm is already swirling in the Atlantic. Tropical Storm Bret is expected to strengthen and potentially hit the Lesser Antilles as a hurricane on Thursday and Friday. It's path after that is unknown but forecasters say it MAY move into the Caribbean on the weekend. With much of the North Atlantic Basin at record warm temperatures, the hurricane season is expected to be a busy one this year.
And the UN has adopted the first-ever legally binding international treaty that covers the high seas. It was approved by the 193 U.N. member states and outlines rules that are aimed at protecting the environment, dealing with disputes over natural resources, shipping and much more. Until now there have been no rules covering the area of water outside of each countries jurisdiction. Which is kind of crazy because that amounts to about 2 thirds of the worlds oceans. The new treaty will only go into effect 120 days after it is ratified by at least 60 U.N. member nations.
We'll call THIS ONE, a WIN!!! I’ll be back shortly with more headlines.
